I recently had the pleasure of meeting Valerie, a graduate of Kiski High School in Vandergrift. Finish up your last two years of high school during a global pandemic is obviously not fun, so I was more than happy to help Valerie have the celebration she deserved. I was so impressed by her bright personality and myriad accomplishments. She’s headed off to Duquesne University in the fall, and I’m confident it won’t be long before I’m seeing her name in the news. If I’m lucky, she’ll use one of these Presque Isle senior portraits as her cover photo!
Capturing the Valerie-dictorian
It’s not often that I meet a graduate from Kiski HS, which is located over in Westmoreland County. Still, I’m surprised that word of Valerie’s accomplishments hadn’t reached me. Not only was she a talented cheerleader, but she served as her class’s valedictorian. So how did I get to be the one to photograph this rock star? Valerie and her family often vacation in Erie, so I got the privilege of taking her pictures at one of her favorite spots!
In the coming years, Valerie will pursue a major in pre-med with a minor in music. This unique combination plays into Valerie’s interest in music therapy, which I find so cool. As you can imagine, I’m a huge fan of arts-related fields. If this connection wasn’t enough, I learned that Valerie is actually a photographer herself! She loves to capture skies and sunsets, and even took the senior pictures of many of her classmates this year.
A selfie wouldn’t cut it for her portraits, though, so I took over. We headed to one of the McMullens’ favorite vacation stops and took some great photos as the sun set.
The Presque Isle Senior Portraits Session
I can’t blame Valerie and her family for traveling from Pittsburgh to Presque Isle. The area is perfectly picturesque — even when you’re not doing a portrait session! We timed Valerie’s shots with sunset, creating stunning views at Lighthouse Beach. Between the water, the sun, and Valerie’s infectious smile, we got some great pictures of this great graduate.
