Presque Isle Family Portraits with the Fosters

It’s always a pleasure to meet new families for on location family portraits in Erie, PA. Photographing the Foster family at Presque Isle State Park was a real treat as this was their first experience of an on location portrait session. The family had only ever done studio sessions in the past. Erie, PA and the surrounding area offer many beautiful spots for stunning outdoor family portraits. We hope we showed the Fosters the unique photo opportunities that can’t be captured in the studio. Mike and Amy, we hope you enjoy your Presque Isle family portraits as much as we enjoyed capturing the moments that day.

Meet the Family

The Fosters are a fun, easy-going family who loves adventure. Lucas and Logan, Mike and Amy’s two kids, are full of energy. It was interesting learning about the history of the lighthouse at the park and shipwrecks from this energetic pair. The family camps near Presque Isle State Park twice a year, so it was great to capture some family portraits at a place they hold dear to their hearts. As family portrait photographers, we strive to capture the most natural photos. Choosing a familiar location that makes the client comfortable is the first step to doing this.

Family Portraits at Presque Isle State Park

Presque Isle State Park is what the Foster family would call their happy place. This is because Mike and Amy Foster have been camping with their two boys, Lucas and Logan, at Sara’s Campground for the past three years. We knew this would be the perfect location for their family portrait session. The location is one of our favorites as well because of the peace and unique beauty the park offers. It’s always a pleasure to have a location that can offer a variety of backdrops from wooded trails to sandy beaches!

The family was dressed for fall weather, but on the day of our Presque Isle family portraits, it was unseasonably warm for Erie, PA. So, we used the shaded hiking trails across from the lighthouse to keep everyone from getting too warm. For their beach family portraits, we stayed around the Presque Isle Lighthouse using its sandy shores as our backdrop. Searching for beach glass is a favorite activity for Lucas and Logan. They couldn’t wait for their opportunity to sneak away to search for more to add to their collection!
