Senior year. We can all remember the excitement those words brought with them when we were younger. Fall is winding down, ushering in cold weather and senior portrait season for many high school seniors. While I’m no stranger to Erie PA senior portraits, this photo session was particularly meaningful to me. It was a chance to spend more time with my amazing niece and god-daughter Katie Lueck. We headed to Frontier Park in Erie, Pennsylvania for the shoot, looking to capture her brilliance and enthusiasm from behind the lens.
Katie is currently a senior at Girard High School in Girard, PA, an institution nationally ranked for its academics and high test scores. In such an impressive, rigorous environment, Katie has never had an issue taking the lead. During her time at Girard, she’s taken part in the yearbook committee and the student council. Those extracurricular activities didn’t distract her from academics. She’s also a member of the National Honors Society, a distinction requiring academic excellence.
Like many college seniors, she’s mapping out her plan for success. Because her mother and uncle graduated from Penn State University, Katie is highly considering their beloved alma mater. At just under two hours away from her hometown, Penn State is just close enough to home for comfort. But Katie has always had a sense of adventure. She is also considering attending Tulane University, a nationally ranked private college all the way in New Orleans, Louisiana. That would certainly be a major change in scenery!
Once she starts college, she plans on a major in psychology and minor in creative writing. Then she intends to attend medical school to become a radiologist. As Katie moves towards graduation, I have no doubt that she will achieve anything she sets her mind to. She’s a girl with a plan.
FUN AT FRONTIER PARK
Frontier Park, located just west of downtown Erie, PA, was the perfect setting for her senior portraits. We headed to the park in November, during that month’s single, miraculous day of nice weather and good lighting. The arboretum and fall colors provided a beautiful, eye-popping backdrop to the photos that no summer photo shoot could match. The rustic, woodsy background set the perfect vibe–authentic, bursting with color, and full of possibility.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE
Though she hasn’t made the final school decision yet, I’m sure whatever path Katie chooses as her next stepping stone into adulthood will lead to great things!
