Our story begins with Bernice, a lovely LECOM student, contacted us to do an Erie PA portrait session as a present to herself for her 25th birthday. We met the next day to discuss locations, date, and style. During the course of our conversation at Starbucks, it turns out Bernice has never had professional portraits done. As you’ll see, I found this very hard to believe. We found out her birthday was two weeks away – falling during the time we were scheduled to be on location out of the country. So we had 24 hours to plan and schedule the session in order to get her portraits to her in time. God, I love pressure!!
Not being too familiar with Erie, Bernice deferred to our judgment for locations. We ultimately decided on three spots for the Erie PA portrait session: Frontier Park, The Bicentennial Tower at Dobbin’s Landing, and the Peach Street railroad underpass.
Our first stop was Frontier Park. Although we had what Erie would consider a “mild” winter with sunshine and minimal clouds, the temperatures were still chilly. Bernice was a trooper in her sundress and sandals!
Next, we moved to the pond on Cascade Creek in the park.
Our second location moved along to the Bicentennial Tower on Dobbins Landing. Since the public restrooms were still closed for the season, we draped a blanket over Bernice’s car so she could change in privacy. Again, this girl handled it all like a BOSS! When we reached the first landing of the tower, I asked her to just kind of relax while I set up and dialed in my settings. Well I guess I should ask that more often because we nailed it on the first try.
The Railroad Underpass
Finally, we ended our Erie PA portrait session at the Peach Street railroad underpass. For this spot, I had a specific image in mind that I wanted to capture. However, a last minute outfit decision completely took my vision in another direction and I’m so glad it did!
We’re excited with how these portraits turned out, as was Bernice. Imagine what we could do with more than 24 hours to plan. Want to find out? Contact us for information about Erie PA portrait session availability and pricing.
